Regarding allergens and our products, our allergen statements align with current FDA and Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA) requirements.
Products that contain major food allergens are clearly labeled with a “CONTAINS” statement. For instance, our bars are labeled, “CONTAINS: Peanuts.”
Why Did We Adopt the “CONTAINS” Allergen Statements
Using “CONTAINS” statements clearly and unambiguously alerts customers to the presence of any of the nine major food allergens.
We do not include "Manufactured in" statements, such as "Manufactured in a facility that also uses tree nuts, soy, wheat, and milk," on our packaging.
This means that any product that does not contain one of the FDA's nine major food allergens (milk, egg, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, soybeans, sesame) will not have an allergen advisory.
Each manufacturing facility follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and follows allergen control strategies to minimize the potential cross-contact of food allergens. These practices include, but are not limited to, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) training, separation of like materials, and sanitation.
