We’ve always been committed to sourcing raw materials that are not modified through genetic engineering, and now we’re proud to announce that the majority of our products are Non-GMO Project Verified. The Non-GMO Project is a nonprofit organization that evaluates products to ensure the products can be verified as Non-GMO. See our full list of Non-GMO Project Verified products at livingnongmo.org.
Our Non-GMO Project Verified products are made from ingredients that have been produced and manufactured in compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard. In addition, our supply chain conducts full item and lot tracing to track each raw material as it is received, processed, packaged and sold, to ensure Non-GMO Project Verified products are not mixed with unverified ingredients.
Producing a product without bioengineering depends on the integrity of the ingredient source. We pride ourselves on building relationships with our suppliers and we hold them to very high standards. We make specific and detailed inquiries to all our commodity suppliers regarding their seed source and growing practices. While we have worked tirelessly with our suppliers to source ingredients that are not genetically engineered, we have a number of items that are currently not Non-GMO Project Verified, either because of prohibitively heightened regulatory structure or because a supplier’s manufacturing information is deemed proprietary such that it cannot be shared with the Non-GMO Project. These items include dairy, soy, corn, most microbial products such as yeasts, as well as mixes that contain these items. As part of our vendor approval and annual vendor review processes, we require all our Non-GMO suppliers to verify that their products are produced without bioengineering (even if such products are not submitted to the Non-GMO Project for independent evaluation).
